Easiest Pets to Get in OSRS

Almost every OSRS pet is a rare roll— every qualifying action (a kill, a log chopped, an ore mined) gives a tiny chance to receive the pet, scaled so higher-level content rolls it more often. There's nopity timer: you could get one in an hour or go well past the average rate. So “easiest” never means guaranteed — it means the requirements are low and the rolls come while you're training something useful anyway.

Crucially, “easy” doesn't always mean “fast.” A skilling pet with a low requirement can still take many hours on average. What makes a pet accessible is the combination of low requirements, an AFK-friendly method you'd train anyway, and — best of all — a guaranteed or high-chance source.

These are ranked by realistic accessibility for a low-to-mid account — weighing requirement, effort, whether you can do it AFK, and how much you rely on RNG. None of them need raids or high combat.

Unlike the RS3 versions, OSRS skilling pets have no threshold or pity system— every action is a flat, independent roll, so no pet is ever “guaranteed” by a kill count. What you can do is stack the odds by hunting pets inside training you were doing regardless:

• Tangleroot (Farming) — because you should be doing herb and tree runs daily anyway (see the money guide), the rolls accumulate as a free side-effect of income you'd earn regardless.
• Phoenix (Wintertodt)— Wintertodt packs many pet rolls into each hour and needs only 50 Firemaking. It's early, group-friendly, and pays in supplies while you hunt.
• Scurrius's pet — Scurrius is a genuinely low-level boss with fast kills, so you rack up rolls quickly for a beginner-safe target.

Whichever you chase, a few habits make it painless:

• Hunt pets in skills you were going to train anyway — the pet becomes a bonus, not a detour.
• Higher-level actions roll the pet more often, so training up first can be faster overall than grinding a low-level method.
