Shades of Mort'ton

Cremate shades for keyed loot and the Amulet of the damned

A loot-loop activity in Mort'ton: sanctify oil, make pyre logs, kill shades and cremate their remains for coloured keys that open tiered chests in the catacombs. It trains a mix of Firemaking, Crafting and Prayer, and the higher tiers hold the Amulet of the damned and Zealot's robes.

Why do Shades of Mort'ton?

  • The Amulet of the damned adds real set bonuses to Barrows gear and a few niche items.
  • Zealot's robes boost the passive Prayer XP you get from burying bones and scattering ashes.
  • It trains Firemaking, Crafting and Prayer at once while chasing chest loot.

How it works

Repair the Flamtaer temple, sanctify olive oil into sacred oil, and coat logs to make pyre logs. Kill shades, then cremate their remains on a pyre for a chance at a coloured key (bronze up to gold). Take matching keys to the Shade Catacombs to open a chest of that tier.

Wiki

Opened with coloured keys earned by cremating shade remains. Higher-tier keys are rarer and open better chests; exact per-key odds scale by shade type, so there is no single fixed rate.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Bring or make plenty of sacred oil — pyre logs are the bottleneck, not shades.
  • Save higher-tier keys for when you have the matching amount; don't waste a gold key on a half-run.
  • Do it with others repairing the temple so the whole loop stays fed.

Who should do this?

Mid accounts after the Amulet of the damned, Zealot's robes, or multi-skill loot with a purpose.
